Scheme to develop floriculture : 500 small farmers to in Krishnagiri to benefit KRISHNAGIRI: The district administration is preparing a floriculture development scheme for small farmers in the clusters of Berigai, Thally and Kelamangalam, said the District Collector, Mangat Ram Sharma. At the district consultative committee meeting for banking development held here on Tuesday, Mr. Sharma said that 500 small farmers would be given assistance under the scheme. While the National Horticulture Board would provide 20 per cent of the outlay as subsidy another 20 per cent would be provided as venture capital fund from the Small Farmers Agri Business Consortium of TN Government. Marketing support TANFLORA would provide marketing support for the scheme. The Collector also reviewed the progress made under various schemes including SGRY, PMRY and TAHDCO. The Deputy General Manager of Indian Bank, C. Dharmarajan, said that banks were planning to disburse Rs. 100 crores to Self-help groups in this circle. He asked bankers to improve lending to new farmers for establishment of Agri clinics. Loan disbursal Till June 2005 banks in Krishnagiri district have disbursed Rs. 84 crores under the Special Farm Credit Policy against the annual credit of Rs. 273 crores. The Lead District Officer of Reserve Bank of India, P. M. Rajagopal, said that progress under PMRY for the year 2005-06 had to be stepped up for achieving the target of 530. The Lead District Manager, Indian Bank, B. Vadivel, and the Project Officer, DRDA, R. Sakthivel, participated.
